Imam Ibn Baaz was asked about that which has become widespread by the people that they say there is a good Bidah (innovation) and a bad one
He replied:
الصواب أنه ليس هناك بدعة حسنة، كل بدعة ضلالة كما بينه النبي عليه الصلاة والسلام
What is correct is that there is no good Bidah, every Bidah (innovation) is misguidance as the prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم clarified.
فإنه قال عليه الصلاة والسلام في خطبته في الجمعة: (أما بعد فإن خير الحديث كلام الله، وخير الهدي هدي محمد – صلى الله عليه وسلم – وشر الأمور محدثاتها وكل بدعة ضلالة)
For indeed he صلى الله عليه و سلم used to say in his Friday sermon,
“As to what proceeds, Indeed the best of speech is the speech of Allah, and the best of guidance is the guidance of Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم, and the most evil of matters are the newly invented matters, and every innovation is misguidance”
وهكذا جاء في حديث عائشة وفي حديث بعض نسائه وغيرها، فالبدع كلها ضلالة كما قاله النبي عليه
الصلاة والسلام،
Similarly it has come in the narration of Aisha and in the narration of some of his wives and other than it. Thus the innovation(s), all of them are misguidance as the prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم said….
