The speech of Shaykh Saalih As-Suhaymee which is commonly distributed in regards to not declaring others to be innovators or in regards to not refuting one another, then they are in relation to the people who are still in the fold of Ahlus Sunnah, who are open to advice and aren’t people of desires. For that reason, we find Shaykh Saalih Suhayme declaring people who are contrary to that as innovators, and the following is a small example to that.

Ash-Shaykh Saalih Suhayme, may Allah preserve him, said:

“…It has become clear to me that Abul Hassan [al-Maribi] is an innovator and I believe that he is an innovator who is two-faced and a liar… I know they have reached to the level of being innovators, Ali Hassan and Abul Hassan… We are aware that he [Ali al-Halabi] has with him serious errors and innovations… I declare Ali Hassan to be an innovator and likewise Abul Hassan, I see him to be an innovator… ”

Shaykh Saalih Suhaymee, may Allah preserve him, mentioned in the video that his speech is regarding those who possess the methodology of Ahlus Sunnah from those who make a genuine error as a slip from themselves. And from the modern examples the Shaykh gave is the refutations between Shaykh Albany and Shaykh Humood at-Tuwayjiree who are both renown scholars who search for the truth and not follow their desires.

Ash-Shaykh Zayd al-Madkhalee, rahimahullah, said:

… Making excuses for the Imaams of knowledge from the scholars of fiqh and the scholars of hadith when they oppose the texts because their opposition was not based upon intention. Rather, it was only done out of Ijtihaad when the texts did not reach them or other than that [from the excuses that are made for them]… this does not apply to the people of innovations because there is no excuses for them. I mean [i.e. I am referring to] those who established innovated principles and called the people to it either by their publications or either by any means from the ways of giving da’wah to the people to misguidance and acting upon innovations.”

[Sharhu Haa’iyah Ibn Abee Daawod , page 67, print: al-Minhaaj]

This is not in relation to those who when the truth becomes clear to them, they still persist upon their error, as Ash-Shaykh al-Uthaymeen, may Allah have mercy upon him, said:

“The people of innovations in reality are not upon ijtihaad because the one upon Ijtihaad is the one who is free from following his desires. He does not want except what the Quraan and Sunnah indicates while we know that the people of innovations do not intend that.”
