Ash Shaykh Abdul Hameed Al Hajooree in his book (الذهب المسبوك في احكام الكسوف, Page: 52-53) mentions:

“Matter: Does praying the eclipse prayer alone count, or is the congregation a condition for it?

Abu Yousuf and Muhammad Ibn Al Hassan from the Hanafis went towards this statement [that the congregation is a condition].

Speech regarding having the congregation for the eclipse prayer has preceded and we came to a conclusion that the congregation for it is better and more complete.

The one who isn’t able to pray in congregation whether that be a man or woman, then it is obligatory upon them to pray even if it be alone, or a man praying with his family.

Our proof for that is the narrations which preceded in the chapter ‘The actions in the eclipse prayer’ [such as]

‘If you see that [the eclipse], then pray'”

End quote.

Ibn Qudaamah said in Al Mughni 2/142:

“It is legislated/Sunnah to pray it in congregation or alone, and with this Maalik and Ash Shafiee said”

End quote.

Shaykh Al Uthaymeen mentioned in Majmoo Al Fataawa 16/310:

“There is no problem for a woman to pray the eclipse prayer in her home because the command is general [it being]:

‘Then pray and supplicate until it is over’

But if she goes to the Masjid as the female companions did and she prays with the people [in congregation] then in this is good.”
