Shaykh Abdul-Hameed al-Hajooree, حفظه الله, said:

“Being distinguished [in one’s call] along with being gentle and peaceful is far greater than being harsh and stern. For verily, rifq [i.e. gentleness, acting upon wisdom] is not added to something, except it adorns it, and is not withdrawn from something, except it leaves it defective. Rifq is beneficial for the daa’ee as well for those he is giving da’wah to. And add to that, it is a [noble] characteristic of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم.”
