Question:

Why does Allaah refer to himself as He though he is genderless?

Answer:

The orgin in the Arabic language is the usage of the masculine form even when used for things which aren’t masculine and feminine. I believe even in English and other languages when speaking generally about the action of someone, then it is used with a masculine form, disregarding if the person is masculine or not, that’s from the angle of the origin.

Also Allaah is referred to as He in opposition to the idol worshippers who used to use feminine names and usages for their idols.

But the scholars say it is best we don’t inquire concerning this since our knowledge regarding Allah is limited to what He has informed us about him. And also since we will be questioned more about our Attributes than Allah being questioned about His Attributes. Allah knows best
