Shaykh Saalih Al-Fawzaan was asked:

Question:

“How do I get rid of unlawful wealth if it has been mixed with wealth which has been earned lawfully in a manner coinciding with the Islamic legislation?”

Answer:

“Upon you is to estimate the portion of your wealth [amassed] unlawfully with necessary precautions and then give it away to the poor—not by way of charity, but by way of getting rid of the unlawful to relieve yourself of it. The wealth [donated] is considered wealth which is not yours and it is spent towards the poor and needy.”
