It’s been reported in Sunan Abu Dawood, Sunan At Tirmithi and other than them from the narration Abdullah Ibn Amr Radiallahu Ahum that the messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه و سلم said

“When one of you becomes frightened during sleep, then let him say: ‘I seek refuge in Allah’s Perfect Words from His anger, His punishment, and the evil of His creatures, from the whisperings of the Shayatin, and that they should come (A`ūdhu bikalimātillāhit-tāmmati min ghaḍabihī wa `iqābihī wa sharri `ibādih, wa min hamazātish-shayāṭīni wa an yaḥḍurūn).’ For verily, they shall not harm him.

The Dua in Arabic

“أَعُوذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ التَّامَّةِ مِنْ غَضَبِهِ وَعِقَابِهِ وَشَرِّ عِبَادِهِ وَمِنْ هَمَزَاتِ الشَّيَاطِينِ وَأَنْ يَحْضُرُونِ “

[Imam Al Albani declared it Hassan in Saheeh Al Jaami’ number 701]

Ash Shaykh Abdurrazaq Al Badr said regarding it:

Section three page 92

“Thus this is a great Dua [supplication] which the prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم directed towards he who is afflicted during his sleep with anything which causes panic and fear. [This is] due to that which he might see in his sleep from frightening things, [and thus] he (صلى الله عليه و سلم ) directed him that he should say this [Dua] so that it would take away from him his fear/panic, give his soul tranquility, have comfort and ease in his sleep, and that the fear and panic be taken away from him. It is a great and blessed Supplication”
