They should strive to pray two rak’ahs first then they can sit and have a conversation inshaa Allah,
Ash Shaykh Bin Baaz, Rahimahullah, said :
المشروع لمن دخل المسجد أن يصلي تحية المسجد ركعتين قبل أن يجلس في أي وقت كان، ولو في وقت النهي،
“What is legislated for the one who enters the masjid is that he prays two rak’ahs for tahiyyatul masjid before he sits, at any time, even if it is during the prohibited times”
لقولالنبي صلى الله عليه وسلم: «إذا دخل أحدكم المسجد فلا يجلس حتى يصلي ركعتين» (متفق على صحته).
“Due to the statement of The Prophet sallahu alayhi wa salam (If one of you enter the masjid, he should not sit until he prays two rak’ahs) agreed upon its authenticity. ”
وإذا كان الدخول في المسجد بعد الأذانفإنه يصلي الراتبة التي قبل الفريضة كسنة الظهر والفجر، وتكفي عن تحية المسجد.
” And if he enters after the Adhaan in the masjid, then indeed he should pray the established sunnah before the obligatory prayer, such as the sunnah of Dhur and Fajr and it (praying the sunnah prayer) suffices him from tahiyyatul masjid ”
وفق الله الجميع لما يرضيه .
” May Allah grant all success to that which He is pleased with.”
