Shaykh Muqbil Bin Hadi Al-Wadi’i was asked:

Question:

“Was Sūrat Al-A’lā revealed in the former scriptures as stated by Allāh, The Most High, in the last portion of the Sūrah:

(إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَفِی ٱلصُّحُفِ ٱلۡأُولَىٰ)

“Verily! This is in the former Scriptures,

(صُحُفِ إِبۡرَ ٰهِیمَ وَمُوسَىٰ)

The Scriptures of Ibrāhīm and Mūsā.”

?

Answer:

“This is what is apparent from the Noble Qur’ān, and after this (the statement):

إِنَّ هَـٰذَا

”Verily! This”

It is necessary for one to look: is this statement intended for the entire Sūrah or is it only for a portion of it? Perhaps it is only intended from the statement:

قَدۡ أَفۡلَحَ مَن تَزَكَّىٰ

‘Indeed whosoever purifies himself (by avoiding polytheism and accepting Islamic Monotheism) shall achieve success’

Until the end of the Sūrah; this is what is mentioned in the scriptures of Ibrāhīm and Mūsā. We believe in this from what is apparent in the Qur’ān, and it is Allāh (Alone) Whose help we seek.” End.
