Shaykh Abu Abdir Rahmaan Yahyaa Bin Alee Al-Hajooree was asked:

What is the ruling on repeating after the Adhan if the mu’adhdhin is Sufi or Shi’ee?

“Replying to what is authentic from the adhan is Sunnah and what is newly invented, innovated, then do not repeat it after the mu’adhdhin, like [the wording] “Come to the best of deeds”. This is due to the generality of the statement of the Prophet (ﷺ):

إِذَا سَمِعْتُمُ الْمُؤَذِّنَ فَقُولُوا مِثْلَ مَا يَقُولُ

When you hear the Mu’adhdhin, repeat what he says

[Reported by Muslim, Ahmad, Abu Dawood and others from Abdullah bin ‘Amr (may Allah be pleased with him)]”
