Al Khiraqi said: “The one who sleeps or passes wind, there is no Istinjaa upon him.”
Ibn Qudaamah said: “We do not know in regards to that any differing.”
Abu Abdullah meaning Ahmad Ibn Hanbal said:
“There is no Istinjaa mentioned in the book of Allah or Sunnah of his messenger صلى الله عليه و سلم for passing wind, he only has to do Wudu.”
An Nawawi said:
“The scholars have consensus that it is not obligatory to do Istinjaa due to passing wind, sleep, touching the women or private part.
It has been relayed from a people from the Shia that it is obligatory to do so, and the differing of the Shia does not count.”
