Shaikhul Islam Ibn Taymiyyah rahimahullah said: “If ten Christians gathered together, they would separate with eleven [different] statements”
And he said: “Another said: if you asked a Christian, his wife, and his son about their monotheism, he would say one statement, his wife would say another statement, and his son a third”
[Jawaab us-Saheeh (2/155)]
Shaikh Bin Baz rahimahullah said:
“So like this, the Scholars have said [that] if ten Christians gathered in a lesson regarding their Lord, they would divide into eleven opinions [It was mentioned by Hafidh Ibn Kathir also in the Tafsir of [4:171]. That is: it is an exaggeration regarding their differing that they would divide into more statements than the number of people present in the lesson. This is by way of exaggeration in their differing.
From those who has clarified their falsehood is Abu al-‘Abbas Ibn Taymiyyah rahimahullah in his book al-Jawaab us-Saheeh Liman Badal Deen al-Maseeh [The Correct Answer to the Those Who Have Changed the Religion of the Messiah]. Likewise Ibn Qayyim rahimahullah in his book Hidayaah ul-Hayaarah Fi Radd ‘ala Yahood wan-Nasaara [Guidance for the Confused in the Refutation of the Jews and Christians]. Likewise the summarized book of Ibn Ma’mar “Radd Ibn Ma’mar al-Nafees ‘ala Ubbad al-Maseeh [The Invaluable Refutation of Ibn Ma’mar upon the Worshipers of the Messiah]. Abdul Aziz Ibn Ma’mar rahimahullah was one of the Scholars of the Da’wah in Dir’iyyah in the Thirteen century. It was published”.
