Ali Tamimi is a staunch defender of Sayyid Qutb and others from the major figures of the Qutbiyyah group.
Ali Tamimi was a well-known caller prior to being arrested in America for calling to a fourth category in Tawheed called Tawheed al-Haakimyaah. He gave much emphasis to it in some of his audio lectures.
Also Ali Tamimi says physical khurooj upon the Muslim rulers is impermissible yet he permits khurooj bi lisaan (by the tongue) under the disguise of commanding the good and forbidding the evil.
Also Ali Tamimi states in some of his lectures that there are scholars in the United kingdom, perhaps this is where his student Yasir Qaadhi took that statement from of there being scholars in the west.
In fact, Yasir Qaadhi states:
“I personally owe a lot to Sh. al-Timimi, and I can say (with pride) that fifteen years ago, back in the early 90’s, he played an instrumental role in shaping and directing me to take the path that has led me to where I am today.”

Likewise, Ali Tamimi encourages the salafis to fund the islamic groups under the banner to cooperate upon righteousness and taqwa and he even includes the shi’ah group!
Also he has been trialed with a number of doubts concerning the matter of Jihaad in this era which eventually led to people accusing him to be a jihadists upon the concept of the khawaarij.
When I visited America with a group of brothers in the year 2003, we noticed the likes of Abu Uwais Abdullah rahimahullah warning from him and his ideology. Likewise, Abu Talhah Daawud Burbank rahimahullah from what had reached us is that he would as well encourage others to avoid listening to him and being distant from him and his works.
The Lajnah ad-Da’imah stated :
“… making “al-Haakimiyyah” a separate category is an innovated matter, which has not been the saying of any of the scholars as far as we know… ”

Revolting against the ruler with speech could be worse than revolting with the sword.
بل الخروج بالسيف مترتب على الخروج بالقول ، الخروج بالقول خطيرٌ جداً
Rather revolting with the sword is subsequent to revolting with the tongue. Performing khurooj with the tongue is extremely dangerous…
