Bismillah
The short words presented before the reader, essentially comprise commentary and contemplation with the statement found in the title of this writing.
I ask Allaah to place Barakah in that which will come of speech, and to accept it as a means of nearness with Him Tabaaraka wa Ta’ala.
My Dear Brothers and Sisters in Islaam, indeed the affair of seeking accuracy and precision in speech is from the most important of affairs. Allaah Azawajel says in His Noble Book:
وَإِذَا قُلْتُمْ فَاعْدِلُوا
“And when you testify, be just”
[Al-Anaam:152]
Moreover, this becomes even more incumbent when giving testimony and bearing witness for others, Indeed Allaah says in His Noble Book:
يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا كُونُوا قَوَّامِينَ بِالْقِسْطِ شُهَدَاءَ لِلَّهِ وَلَوْ عَلَىٰ أَنفُسِكُمْ أَوِ الْوَالِدَيْنِ وَالْأَقْرَبِينَ إِن يَكُنْ غَنِيًّا أَوْ فَقِيرًا
“O you who believe! Stand out firmly for justice, as witnesses to Allah, even though it be against yourselves, or your parents, or your kin, be he rich or poor.”
[An-Nisa: 135]
Being the case that this is something well known to most, we purposely withhold from providing lengthy elaborations here, something likely to serve against the purpose of this writing.
Though it must be said, that the aforementioned praise of Abu Usaamah ad-Dhahabi is of great surprise (given Dhahabi’s contradiction to the Way of The Salaf as is expanded upon below). Even moreso, when its initiator and utterer attributes himself to the highly-distinct Salafi Call of Al Imam Al Wadi’ee رحمه الله and his Successor Sheikh Yahya al Hajooree حفظه الله.
🍂 Again, for the sake of space, it is possible to criticize this viewpoint towards Abu Usama from more than one front. But once more, due to restrictions of space we will suffice with two broad areas for critically expansive contemplation.
1. Abu Usama is known to work alongside, cooperate and share platforms with those who oppose the Salafi Call.
💢 The correct Salafi position towards the people of innovation
🔹Imam As-Saabooni, Al Baghawi and Abu Ya’laa report a consensus and agreement on the obligation of abandoning the Innovators.
[see: Sharh us-Sunnah (226/1) & Aqeedat asalaf wa Ashaabil Hadith (p.123)]
🔸Al Imam Aajuri reports with an authentic chain of narration that Ibn Abbass radiallahu anhu said:
” Do not sit with the people of desires, for indeed sitting with them is sickening to the hearts”
(see Asharee’a narration no: 133).
🔹 Al Imam Al Asbahaani said:
” The Ulamah of the Salaf said: And, it is not allowed to sit with the people of sin whose immorality has become apparent, nor the people of innovations whose innovations have become manifest”
(see al hujja: 550/2).
🔸Also, Imam Qurtubi says in his explanation of Verse no. 68 from Surat Al-an’aam:
” And (contained) in the verse, is the prohibition of sitting with the people of innovation and desires, and that the one who sits with them, his ruling is their ruling (i.e he is also judged to be an innovator).”
🔹Al-Hasan al-Basree said: “Do not sit with the people of innovation and desires, nor argue with them, nor listen to them.”
[See Sunnan ad-Darimee (1/121)].
🔸Al-Fudayl bin ‘Iyaad also said: “If a man comes to a person to consult him and he directs him to an innovator, then he has indeed cheated Islam.”
[see: Sharh Usool ul-I’tiqaad of al-Lalika’ee (no.261)].
For your own confirmation of the above-mentioned criticism, look no further than Abu Usama’s upcoming conference wherein he is posed to line up alongside those who oppose the Salafi Manhaj, namely: Sh Basheer Shiiil, Sa’eed Rageh and others:
Similarly, if still in doubt, take a moment to acquaint yourself with Abu Usama’s previous conferences, wherein he was presented to line up alongside Yusuf Estes, Abdurahman Green, Zakir Naik, Tawfique Chowdhury (in a conference endorsed by Yusuf Estes himself!):

&

Thus, evidently and sadly, Abu Usama displays no qualms in working alongside Innovators who themselves (mostly) free themselves of the Salafi Manhaj, rather he even promotes their lectures (as seen in the Facebook link above).

🎯 Secondly:
The Salaf were known for their striving in seeking Knowledge, Dawah and their diligence in educating, cultivating and producing well-adept students of knowledge.
Al Imaam Muqbil Al Wad’iee says: “It is upon us all to admonish one another with the Taqwa of Allaah as well as seriousness and striving in gaining knowledge for indeed it is the path of success in this time-era, and it is that by way of which we are able to distinguish between the person of Truth and the person of Falsehood and between Guidance and Misguidance”
[see Ghaarat Al Ashrita 107/1]
● Turning now to Abu Usama Ad-Dhahabi, where are the students he has produced in his 20+ years of giving Dawah, such that he be referred to as an unparralled, second to none Dawah Machine?
● Where are the Huffadh of the Quran, proficient speakers of Arabic whom he has cultivated and produced during this time-period?
⛔ Rather that which Abu Usama Ad-Dhahabi is known for (notwithstanding his seemingly endless list of controversies) is his staunch defence of the people of falsehood (such as Abdur-Rahmaan Abdul-Khaaliq and Abul Hasan al-Ma’rabee), his affiliation with Suhaib Hasan and also his cooperation and work alongside the people of innovation.
⚠ So…. no Clear Salafi Call, Distinct from the people of Innovations after 20 odd years you say?
🎯 Unfortunately not. (Not for Abu Usama at least).
This then gives rise to the question, what measurement does Abu Taymiyyah Jeylani use in what is now clearly a highly-exaggerated and erroneous, mis-placed praise?
You’d have to ask him.
In any case, The Salafi Dawah today, is in no need of flattery, falsely-adorned speech, or in more common words “sucking up”.
But what is required, in the words of Imam Albani and Imam Muqbil, is Tasfiyyah and Tamayuz, Purification and Distinction from Innovations and its people. And before that, Honesty, Sincerity and Truthfulness.
I ask Allah to rectify all those mentioned above.
Walhamdulilahi Rabil ‘aalamiin
