Question:
Is there any basis for saying Alhamdulillaah after one burps?
Answer:
There is no basis. There is a hadith narrated on the subject. It is fabricated according to Shaikh al-Albani in Ad-Da’ifah.

Shaikh Ibn Uthaymeen was asked the following question
Question:
Oh virtuous Shaikh, if a person burps or yawns, is there a specific statement to be made?
Answer: “No, if a person burps or yawns there is no specific remembrance. Unlike what the lay folk do. The lay folk if they burp say: Alhamdulliah. Alhamdulliah ‘ala kulli Haal. However, it was not reported that burping is a cause to say Alhamdulliah…”

Shaykh Abdul-Muhsin al-Abbaad was asked:
Question:
Oh Virtuous Shaikh, what is the ruling on the one who burps and praises Allah because most people praise Allah when they burp? Has there come a proof for that? Another questioner says: we hear people who burp and say: May Allah forgive me. Which of these two is correct?
Answer:
I do not know anything that proves this one or that one/
