Here are some lines of poetry which Ash-Shaykh Muqbil rahimahullah cites showing that a righteous man could suddenly be taken by the fitnah of women and perhaps become weak in his religion because of it.

The Poet says:

“قل للمليحة في الخمار الأسود

Tell the beautiful woman in the black veil

What have you done to the pious worshipper?

He was rolling up his sleeves, getting ready for his prayers

Up until you exposed yourself to him at the door of the mosque

Redeem for him his prayers and his fasting [which you distracted him from]

Don’t kill him [with your love] for God’s sake”

Here is a clip of Shaykh Muqbil rahimahullah citing it:

Also Ash-Shaykh Muqbil rahimahullah mentions the stages of how the Shaytan may trial a person with a woman:

“نظرة فابتسامة فسلام ***** *فكلام فموعد فلقاء

A look, a smile then a greeting ** A word, a promise, then a meeting”

Here is an audio of Shaykh Muqbil rahimahullah mentioning the aforementioned stages:
