List of the Names of the Qur’an
The scholars have mentioned various names of the Qur’an. The following is a list of the 55 different names of the Qur’an mentioned by Imam az-Zarkhashi (d. 794 H.) and Imam as-Suyuti (d. 911 H.), may Allah have mercy upon them both. They based this list on the opinion of Imam Abul-Ma’aali Azeezi bin Abdul-Malik Shaythalah (d. 494 H.), may Allah have mercy upon him.
Wisdom Behind the Qur’an Having Many Names
Imam al-Fayroozabaadi (d. 817 H.), may Allah have mercy upon him, said, “Know that something having many names indicates the honor of that thing or its perfection in a matter [then the Imam mentions examples until he says] . . . likewise the many names of the Qur’an indicate its honor and merit”.
