Ash-Shaykh al-Uthaymeen, may Allah have mercy upon him, said:

“Traveling is from the reasons why the du’a is answered and the viewpoint of this is that several hadeeths have been narrated regarding that the du’a of the traveler will not be rejected. Hence, the Messenger brought mentioning of the word ’traveling’ which indicates that traveling has a great affect upon the supplication being answered and especially if it is a long journey and distant from the home. Indeed the person’s heart will become stronger in faith and reliance upon Allah azza wajal.”
