“Ash-Shaykh Abdur-Razaaq al-Badr hafidaho-Allah asked if photography via the phone and video cameras are included in the threat for taking pictures that comes in some of the hadeeths.

The Shaykh hafidaho-Allah responds by mentioning the correct opinion that the hadeeth is general, it includes everything that has a picture of a soul and nothing is exempted from it unless it be for a daroorah [Shaykh gives an example of a passport photo or driver’s licence photo and its likes].

The Shaykh hafidaho-Allah goes on to say whether it be an animated image or not [i.e a still image or not].

At the end, the Shaykh hafidaho-Allah was asked to give a naseeha to the students of knowledge who are lenient concerning this matter because they say it is a matter of difference of opinion.

The Shaykh hafidaho-Allah mentions a number of the side effects and the negatives of being lenient concerning this topic.

Also, he mentioned many who were lenient concerning this affair have begun to become regretful.

Also, the Shaykh hafidaho-Allah pointed out that many who claim to follow certain mashayikh in this matter have become extravagant and expansive in this affair.

Also, he talked about wedding pics between the spouses and that it shouldn’t be taken, rather burned with the intention to please Allah.”

Many say they are restricting it to dawah yet you find them lenient on putting the camera on everyone who have no relation to dawah or they start to record unnecessary videos of themselves joking and laughing under the title of ‘dawah’. And now, a group of them have begun to film and interview young immodest women all under the title we are doing it for ‘dawah’
