Imam Muqbil said:

I ask Allah to aid me upon myself whereas I give charity with that which is made easy and that I don’t be like that man who says:

“Give charity, Give charity”

Then when his son gives charity from the animal which he sacrificed, he beats his son and says to him:

“We said ‘Oh people (give charity)’, and didn’t say “Oh those from ourselves (give charity)'”
