It was narrated on the authority of ‘Aamir Ibn Mas’ood may Allah be pleased with him that Allah’s apostle ﷺ said:

“Fasting during the winter is an easy reward”.
(Reported by At Tirmidhi and authenticated by Imaam Al Albaani rahimahullaah in Saheeh At Tirmidhi, 797).

Indeed the messenger of Allah ﷺ spoke the truth when he said this. During the winter, the days are shorter and due to the cold weather, people do not feel much hunger or thirst, which therefore makes fasting easy.

Therefore, I encourage myself firstly and my Muslim brothers and sisters to benefit from this Hadith, whether they are making up days missed during Ramadhan or for those hoping to fast voluntarily such as the fasting on Mondays and Thursdays, fasting the fast of prophet Dawood or fasting three days a month.

Likewise in this season we should strive to benefit from the long nights by waking up in the middle or last part of the night in order to pray the night prayer and seek Allah’s forgiveness.
