Imam Ibn ul-Qayyim (may Allah have mercu upon him) said:
“Our Shaikh [Shaikhul-Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah] narrated to me [Ibn ul-Qayyim] saying: “I was beginning to become sick, so the doctor said to me: “Verily your reading and speaking about knowledge increases the sickness”. So I said to him: “I cannot be patient from that and I will judge you according to your knowledge. Doesn’t a soul, if it is happy and joyous, strengthen in nature and so a sickness is warded off”? He said: “Of course”! “Thus my soul is pleased with knowledge and it strengths in nature due to it. So I find comfort”. So the doctor said: “This is outside of our treatment’ or something like that.”
