It was narrated from Ubayy bin Ka’b that the Messenger of Allah said:”Do not curse the wind. When you see what you dislike, then say: ‘Allahumma inna nas-aluka min khairi hadhihir-rih, wa khairi ma fiha wa khairi ma umirat bihi wa na’udhu bika min sharri hadhihir-rih wa sharri ma fiha wa sharri ma umirat bihi’ (‘O Allah! Indeed we ask you of the good of this wind, and the good of what is in it, and the good of what it has been commanded. And we seek refuge in You from the evil of this wind, and the evil of what is in it, and the evil of what it has been commanded.)

[Saheeh Tirmidhi no. 2252]

Imam Nawawi rahimahullah said:

“It is disliked to curse the wind. Shafi’ee rahimahullah said in al-Umm: ” It is not necessary for anyone to curse the wind because it is an obedient creation of Allah, the Exalted and a soldier from its soldiers. Allah uses it as a mercy and a punishment if He wills. The Sunnah is to say when the wind is blowing that which was reported by Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her):

‘Aishah (May Allah be pleased with her) said: Whenever the wind blew strongly, The Prophet (ﷺ) would say: “Allahumma inni as’aluka khairaha, wa khaira ma fiha, wa khaira ma ursilat bihi. Wa a’udhu bika min sharriha, wa sharri ma fiha, wa sharri ma ursilat bihi. (O Allah, I beg of You its good and the good of that which it contains and the good of the purpose for which it has been sent; and I seek Your Refuge from its evil and the evil of that which it contains and the evil of the purpose for which it has been sent)

And in other Hadith:

Salamah ibn ‘Akwa’ (may Allah be pleased with him) said:

“The Prophet used to say when the wind intensified: (اللَّهمَّ لاقِحًا لا عَقيمًا)
