Imam Muqbil was asked:

Question:

Are there wordings for the intention of fasting? And is it permissible to articulate with it?

Answer:

There aren’t any wordings for the intention of fasting. What is correct is that he doesn’t articulate with it (the intention) in anything from the acts of worship.

Those who say that he articulates with it in Hajj, then they haven’t come with any evidence except that which has come in regards to the one who said:

“Here I am Oh Allah on Behalf of Shibrimah”

On behalf of Shibrimah could mean that I am performing Hajj on behalf of Shibrimah.

And Hajj (comes with) the meaning of intent.

It could also mean that:

“I intend (to do Hajj) on behalf of Shibrimah”

thus it is said as the prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم said.
