Question: About the issue of crying in Ramadan , is it from the sunnah to force yourself to cry as is in the narration of umar/ibn Umar? What’s the correct opinion on this issue?

Answer:

It is reported in Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah with a Saheeh chain that Abu Bakr radiallahu anhu that he said:

“Cry, if you cannot cry then force yourself to cry”
However, Shaikh Bin Baz rahimahullah said:

“And what is apparent is not to have unnecessary burden, rather if he cries then he makes effort not to disturb the people. Rather he cries a light crying not disturbing anyone according to the best of his ability”
