Sheikh Albani May Allah have mercy on him:

So after establishing that the companions, may Allah be pleased with them, wiped over their socks (wool, cotton, nylon, etc.), is it not then allowed for us to say against those who take an aversion and make a fuss about wiping over their socks what Ibrahim An-Nakhi [from the major scholars of the Taabi’een from Kufa) said with regards to leather socks: “whoever takes an aversion to wiping over them, then he is from SHAYTAN.”?
