من كثّر سواد قوم فهو منهم ومن رضي عمل قوم كان شريك من عمل به’
“Whoever increases the numbers of a people [i.e their gatherings], then he is from them, and whoever is pleased with an action of a people, then he is a partner of those who perform the action” End translation.
Note: This statement was actually ascribed to the Prophet sallahu alayhi wa salam as a hadith. However, it has weakness in its chain. It has become more as a wise saying by the scholars advising not to increase the numbers of the people of falsehood in the gatherings that are arranged to promote them and raise them as people of truth and bring confusion between the truth and falsehood. For this reason, a group of the Mashayikh have advised not to attend conferences that are arranged by people not upon the correct methodology, especially when it is established at their specific locations and even if they happen to bring a sunni Shaykh since they will use the visit of that particular Shaykh as a promotion for themselves and to display themselves as people on the correct methodology.
