Abu Shaamah Al Maqdasi said:
“There does not remain for the majority of those who seek the honourable Qur’an a concern, except its strong memorization, its fast recitation, freely uttering its words, looking into its points of articulation, and desiring to have a good voice with it (while reciting)!
All of that, even though it is good, but above that is that which is more important than it and complete, more befitting and more deserving, and it is understanding its meanings and pondering in regards to it, acting in accordance to that which it necessitates, stopping at its limits, and benefiting/attaining the fear of Allah Ta’ala due to its good recitation.”
