بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

Being the reason we live in times of much confusion and suspicion, it is strongly incumbent upon us once again that we emphasize and stress the importance of distinguishing oneself from any group or ideology that is extreme or radical. The website TorontoDawah and its associates have taken a number of steps and methods to propagate the correct concept of Islam via means of publishing, authoring, vocal lectures and through public addresses. Unfortunately, we still may find some of the general population ruling a whole tree to be rotten due to one single apple, which is absolutely unfair and unjust since terrorism has no religion in reality. If that was the case, one could possibly use the same argument to blame the religion of Christianity for the crimes that the KKK have perpetrated throughout history. Thus, TorontoDawah has continued to print and distribute a number of pamphlets and leaflets in waging war against oppressive terrorism and unjustified violence [an example can be found here].

Likewise, in our Friday sermons at Bukhaari Islamic Center, efforts have been made in condemning terrorist activities [for example here].

Also, similar efforts have been made vocally at our conferences and seminars such as here

Bear in mind that most of our lecturers and speakers are qualified teachers from a number of Islamic schools here in Toronto, Ontario, who have much experience in educating the youth to be wary of the corrupted ideologies of ISIS and its likes.

Consequently, it is unreasonable and unjust that the salafis be held responsible for actions of others who choose to deviate from such teachings.

And our stance towards members affiliated with ISIS and its likes is that we warn against them and we announce that their harm should be reprimanded accordingly. Our dawah seeks to preserve life and security while the people of extremism choose to seek the opposite.

Along with the above, I wanted to conclude that our method of propagation is totally transparent and honest as we have nothing to hide walhamdulilah.

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

For the sake of clarity and transparency, we reiterate our innocence from inciting oppressive terror or dealing unjustly with those who do not share the same religious beliefs and opinions as us. We state this, not to seek the pleasure of anyone, but rather to sincerely clarify that we adhere to the following statement of Allah in

Chapter Al-Mumtahina Verse 8:

“Allah does not forbid you to deal justly and kindly with those who fought not against you on account of religion and did not drive you out of your homes. Verily, Allah loves those who deal with equity.”

Therefore, our religious statements and opinions, when understood in their full social and historical context, do not incite oppressive terror towards others, nor do they incite any unjust dealings to members of other religions. If anyone were to ascribe that to us and misinterprete that from our religious opinions and statements, then we declare our innocence from such crimes before Allaah and before the public. We will continue to condemn such crimes in our communities through the propagation of the likes of the aforementioned Verse in the face of the misconceptions about Islam and Salafism.

Likewise, we advise those who are on the search for hate crimes, as well as those who are propagating Islamophobia and ugly discrimination towards Muslims who adhere to religious beliefs and practices, to be fair in their examinations and to thoroughly clarify their concerns, in light of religion texts.
