Ash Shaykh Al Fawzaan was asked:
Question:
This one says: Some of the people defend this misguided group [The Khawarij] and he says: Besides that which has occurred from them from these actions they have good deeds which is obligatory to be mentioned. [So what is the ruling on this type of speech]?
Answer:
“What are the good deeds? Destroying homes, and wealth. Frightening those who are in safety, killing Muslims, and those granted a covenant. This is their good deeds??
That group, they have no apparent good deeds.
As for that which is between them and Allah, then we don’t know the unseen, but that which is apparent to the people is that they have no good deeds. He who defends them, then this one is like them; his ruling becomes their ruling even if he hasn’t gone out with them nor blown up stuff with them. If he sees them to be upon the truth, then he is like them with Allah. And like them in ruling, thus the Muslim should be warned from this matter so that he may not be from them and he doesn’t know, thus he shouldn’t defend them, nor justify their actions nor make excuses for them.
