Imam Al Uthaymeen said:

“The strongest of the statements is the first one; that it is not permissible for him to blind follow except at times of necessity. How good is the comparison of [i.e. made by] Shaykhul Islam, may Allah have mercy on him, of blind following with that of dead meat since dead meat is not permissible except due to a necessity and if permitted [at the time of necessity], then in accordance to that necessity [meaning he only takes from it what is needed and nothing extra]”
