Imam Al Uthaymeen was asked:

Question:

May Allah bless you. This questioner, oh virtuous Shaykh, says: The preacher on Jumuah in my country does the sermon as one sermon. He does not sit the accustomed sitting like is the way of the preachers. Is this considered in opposition to the Sunnah?

Answer:

Yes this is in opposition to the Sunnah without a doubt, for indeed it has been affirmed from the prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم that he would he would deliver two sermons on the day of Jumuah. He would separate between them with a sitting.

Rather, the majority of the people of knowledge say the Friday prayer isn’t correct, because from the condition of the acceptance of the Friday prayer is that it is preceded by two sermons.

Based on this, convey to this Imam that this action of his is in opposition to the Sunnah, and that this action of his necessitates with many from the scholars that his Jumuah is not correct.

And say to him Fear Allah Aza Wa Jal, and follow the prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم in his guidance, for indeed the best of guidance is the guidance of Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم. We ask Allah for us and him guidance.
