Shaykh Ibn Uthaymeen was asked:
Question:
“Religious books are expensive, like Tafsir Ibn Kathir and Saheehayn. So how can the youth become educated in their religion?”
Answer:
“The issue of it being expensive is an affair that is relative, in reality, that differs in accordance to the different lands and the difference in the condition of a person. However, they are present, all praise is due to Allah, in the libraries. So it is possible for an eager youth to go to any library in his land and he will find this request/need. If there is no library in his land, then if he is able of purchasing it, then let him purchase. Otherwise, it is allowed to give [him] from the Zakat in order to purchase these books which he needs about his religion”. End translation. [Reference]
