Shaykh Yahyaa al-Hajooree said:

“ذكر بعض أهل العلم وهو السيوطي أن عدد درجات الجنة على عدد آيات القرآن، وهذا يحتاج إلى دليل واضح،

“One of the people of knowledge,who is as-Suyooti, mentioned that the number of levels in jannah are the number of verses in Quran. And this (opinion) requires a clear proof for”

أما حديث:  »يقال لقارئ القرآن اقرأ وارتق ورتل كما كنت ترتل في الدنيا فإن منزلتك عند آخر آية«، هذا ليس فيه دليل أنها محدودة بهذا القدر،

“As for the hadeeth : (The one who was devoted to the Qur’an will be told on the Day of Resurrection: `Recite and ascend (in ranks) as you used to recite when you were in the world. Your rank will be at the last Ayah you recite.) this (hadeeth) contains no proof that it is restricted to this amount”

وما جاء أن الوسيلة والله أعلم هي درجة في الجنة لا تنبغي إلا لواحد قال النبي ﷺ: »وأرجوا أن أكون أنا هو«، فهذا يدل على أنها أكثر من هذا القدر، ”

“And what has come that al-Waseelah and Allah knows best, is a level in jannah, that will only be for one person and the Prophet, ﷺ said : (And i hope I be that person), then this indicates it will be more than this amount (i.e. the number of verses in the Quran)…”
