The Narration:

عَنْ أَنَسٍ، قَالَ مِنَ السُّنَّةِ أَنْ يُقِيمَ، عِنْدَ الْبِكْرِ سَبْعًا

On the authority of Anas bin Malik :

“It is the Sunnah to stay with a virgin (after having married her) for a week”

Reported by Muslim.

Many misunderstand this narration that for everyone who gets married he must remain at home for one whole week and he is excused from praying in the mosque. The correct context of this narration is concerning a man who already has a first wife, he should specify seven days for the new wife before spending nights with his other wives. Allah knows best.
