قال الذهبيُّ -رحمه الله-في السير (المقدمة ص 39)
(الشيخ البرزالي هو من حبب إليّ طلبَ الحديث، لما رأى خطي قال:
“خطُّكَ يشبُهُ خطَّ المُحَدِّثين”
فحبَّبَ اللهُ إليّ علمَ الحديث!)
Ath Thahabi said in As Siyar in the introduction on page 39:
Ash Shaykh Al Birzaali is from the ones who made seeking Hadeeth beloved to me. When he saw my writing, he said, ‘Your writing is similar to that of the scholars or Hadeeth’ “. End quote.
قال شيخ الإسلام ابن تيمية:
” ليس في كتاب الله آية واحدة يَمدَحُ فِيهَا أَحَدًا بِنَسَبِهِ، ولا يَذُمُ أَحَدًا بِنَسَبِهِ، وإنما يَمدحُ بالإيمانَ والتقوى، ويَذمَ بالكفرِ والفسوقِ والعصيان ” .

Shaykhul islaam Ibn Taymiyah said: “There is not one verse in the book of Allah in which one is praised due to his lineage, nor one in which one is dispraised due to his lineage. Rather, one is praised with Eeman and Piety, and dispraised with disbelief, evil deeds, and sins”. End quote. [Majmoo Al Fataawa 35/230]
