وعن أبي هريرة، رضي الله عنه، قال‏:‏ قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏:‏ ‏ “‏أفضل الصيام بعد رمضان شهر الله المحرم، وأفضل الصلاة بعد الفريضة صلاة الليل

Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, “The best month for observing Saum (fasting) after Ramadan is Muharram, and the best Salat after the prescribed Salat is Salat at night.”

Hafidh Ibn Rajab rahimahullah said: “The Prophet (ﷺ) named Muharram the month of Allah and annexed it to Allah which proves the honor of this month and its virtue. For verily Allah does not annex something to Himself except if it is His special creation. Just as Muhammad, Ibraahim, Ishaaq, Ya’qub, and other than them from the Prophets are ascribed to His worship. And He annexed His house (Ka’bah) and His she camel to Himself…it was also said in the meaning of this month being annexed to Allah, the Exalted that it is an indication of its sanctity to Allah, the Exalted and that there is no one who can change it. Just as in the Times of Ignorance, they used to make it lawful in one year and forbid it another year by putting Safar in its place. So this Hadith indicates that it is the month of Allah which He made sacred. There is no one from His creation who can change it or substitute it”
