Imam Ibn ul-Wardi rahimahullah said:
‍وادَّرع جداً وكداً واجتنبْ * * * صُحبةَ الحمقى وأربـاب الـخَلَلْ

“Take seriousness and toil [in seeking knowledge and provision] as a shield and avoid accompanying the foolish and the possessors of defects.

Shaikh Yahya ibn Ali al-Hajoori rahimahullah:

يشمل المايعين، لا تصاحبهم؛ لأنهم أرباب خلل، والحزبيون لا تصاحبهم؛ لأنهم أرباب خلل، والمبتدعة لا تصاحبهم؛ لأنهم أرباب خلل، كلهم مخلخلون، هذا مخلخل بالبدعه، وهذا مخلخل بالفكر، فهذه النصحية عليها أدلتها من كتاب الله ومن سنة رسول الله ﷺ، في البعد عن جلساء السوء،

“This includes the effeminate men, do not accompany them because they are possessors of defect. And the Hizbiyoon do not accompany them because they are possessors of defect and the innovators do not accompany them because they are possessors of defect. All of them are agitated. This one stirs innovation and this one stirs with an ideology. So this advice is based on the evidences of the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah sallahu alayhi wa salam to stay away from bad companions…”
