Hadith:
… فَإِذَا رَجُلٌ عَلَيْهِ سِبْتِيَّتَانِ يَمْشِي بَيْنَ الْقُبُورِ، فَقَالَ: يَا صَاحِبَ السِّبْتِيَّتَيْنِ، أَلْقِ سِبْتِيَّتَكَ، فَخَلَعَ نَعْلَيْهِ.
“… There was a man wearing ox-hide sandals walking between the graves. The Prophet said, ‘You with the ox-hide sandals! Remove your sandals!’ So he removed his sandals.”
Reported Abu Dawud and others. Graded authentic by Shaykh Albany rahimahullah.
Note: The scholars gave an exception to if there are thorns on the ground or the ground is extremely hot or a person finds difficulty in removing his shoes. It has become unfortunately a forgotten sunnah.
