Allah says:
“Had they marched out with you, they would have added to you nothing except disorder, and they would have hurried about in your midst (spreading corruption) and sowing sedition among you, and there are some among you who would have listened to them. And Allâh is the All-Knower of the Zâlimûn (polytheists and wrong-doers).”
Ibn Katheer said this ayah means, “obedient towards them, and approving of their narrations and their speech, They ask them for advice even if they don’t know their situations, so this leads to the falling of evil between the believers and a great corruption!” End translation.
Imam Ash Shawkani said:
“They are mute if I were to say what is correct and if ** I were to say a mistake, they fly in the crowd with my error”
“They relay from me that which I didn’t say ** and they fill [Allah knows best the translation but seems as] hatred between me and my beloved ones” End translation.
