Narrated Jābir bin Samurah, may Allāh be pleased with him:
I prayed the two ‘Eids with the Prophet (ﷺ), not only once or twice, without an adhān or an iqāmah. [Reported by Muslim].
Shaikh ibn ‘Uthaimīn, may Allāh have mercy on him, was asked:
Question:
Is there an adhān and iqāmah for the ‘Eid Prayer?
Answer:
“The ‘Eid Prayer does not have an adhān nor iqāmah, just as it is affirmed in the Sunnah, but some of the people of knowledge, may Allāh have mercy on them, said that it is called towards by [saying] ‘as-Salātu Jāmi’ah’, but there is no proof for this statement, so it is weak. Qiyās (analogy) of it to the Eclipse [Prayer] is not correct, since the eclipse occurs without people knowing about it, contrary to ‘Eid. So, the Sunnah is that it does not have an adhān nor iqāmah, and it is not called towards by [saying] ‘as-Salātu Jāmi’ah’. The people simply come out [to attend it], and when the imām comes, they pray without an adhān or iqāmah”. End. [Majmū’ Fatāwā Ibn ‘Uthaymīn (16/237)]
