Al-‘Allaamah Al-‘Uthaymeen (رحمه الله) said:
“And likewise, I direct the advice to the one making the satellite dishes in these theatres; I say to him ‘fear Allah in yourself, and don’t become a reason for the corruption of the manners and the destruction of religions due to what is watched in these satellite dishes.’ Incidentally, I warn every house owner of placing the like of this satellite dish in his house, since this will soon succeed him after his death. Hence, it will become a severe consequence against him both in his life and after his death. I indeed ask the one placing the satellite dish in his house. while he sees these evil acts that are broadcasted from it: is he by this (act) an advisor to his family or a deceiver? The answer is – and it’s a must that he is a deceiver; unless otherwise he is from those that Allah has sealed their hearts hence they don’t feel (anything) – he will say: I am a deceiver (of my family). Hence I say to him – remember the saying of the Messenger (صلّى الله عليه و سلّم):
“There isn’t a servant that Allah has entrusted him guardianship over a ward, then he dies while dying as a deceiver to them, except that Allah forbids him paradise.”
So if you now die while having placed for them this satellite dish that no one doubts that it is a deception inside the house – because the house contains women and mischievous children that won’t avoid a forbidden thing – so with this (act) you’ll be among those that die while being deceitful to his ward, hence becoming applicable to the severe extortions that came in the hadith. Otherwise, how is it appropriate for a person to destroy his conduct and the conduct of his family?! We ask Allah for wellbeing.” {Collection of the verdicts of Ibn ‘Uthaymeen (15/10)}
Ash-Shaykh Saalih al-Fawzaan, may Allah preserve him, was asked the following question,
Question:
That he works for a electronic store, is it permissible for me to sale (cable) wires for a satellite dish and my father’s profession is in supplying wiring for apartment buildings? So, is it permissible for him to supply wires for a satellite dish?
Answer:
If it is a form of wiring which is specific for a satellite dish, then it is not permissible for him to wire it; that is if it is specific for it. As for if he is supplying general wiring which can be used for light or it can be used for refrigerating and so on, then there is no prevention in this, while the sin will be on those who use it for other than what Allah has permitted. As for that which is specific for a satellite dish, then he should not do it nor should he aid in that
