Shaykh Al-Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah said:
Adam repented and regretted. Him and his wife said:
They said: “Our Lord! We have wronged ourselves. If You forgive us not, and bestow not upon us Your Mercy, we shall certainly be of the losers.” [7:23]
Thus Allah accepted his repentance, chose him, and sent him down to the earth so that he may do acts of obedience in it. Thus by that, Allah would raise his level. His entering paradise after this is more complete than before. Thus whoever commits a sin from the children of Adam and follows his father Adam in repenting, then his is from the happy ones. And if he repents, believes, and does good deeds, Allah will replace his bad deeds with good ones, and therefore he would be better after repenting than before the sin like the rest of the righteous Awliyaa of Allah.
