Abu Nuaym mentions in Al Hilya,
“When Saeed ibn Jubayr was brought to Hajjaj, he said to him, ‘You are the wretched son of the humiliated one (or around this meaning)’ Saeed ibn Jubayr said, ‘No. I am Saeed ibn Jubayr’. Al Hajjaj said, ‘I will kill you’. Saeed said, ‘Therefore, I will be as my mother named me Saeed (happy/blissful)’. Al Hajjaj said, ‘You are wretched and your mother was [as well]’. Saeed said, The matter is not yours’ Then Hajjaj said, ‘Beat his neck’. Saeed said, ‘Leave me to pray two rakats’. Al Hajjaj said, ‘Face him towards the Qiblah of the Christians’. Saeed replied [with the ayah],
‘So wherever you turn yourselves or your faces, there is the Face of Allah (and He is High above, over His Throne).’ [2:115]
Then he said, ‘I seek refuge from you with that which Maryam sought refuge with’. Al Hajjaaj said, ‘And what did she seek refuge with?’ Saeed said [mentioning the ayah],
‘She said, “Verily! I seek refuge with the Most Beneficent (Allah) from you, if you do fear Allah.”‘ [19:18]
Sufyaan said, ‘He (Hajjaj) didn’t kill after him (i.e. Saeed) except one.'” End translation. [Al Hidaaya fi Tarteeb fawaaid al bidaaya wan nihaaya, pg 50]
