What is the ruling on exposing one’s knees in front of their step mothers or step sisters?

Answer:

The scholars say the awrah of the man is between the naval and the knee, so his back and his chest and his knees aren’t from his awrah as been mentioned by Shaykh Muqbil rahimahullah and others. However, since it is a custom of the people to cover such body parts in the presence of others and a sense of morality, he wouldn’t expose his chest or his knees unless needed in shaa Allah.
