The Lines of Poetry:
ومن يغير منكرا بأنكر كغاسل دم الحيض ببول أغبر
Whosoever changes an evil with a greater evil —- Is as if he is washing impure blood with filthy urine
This Arabic poetry use to be read by Al-Allaamah, Ash-Shaykh Muhammad bin Ibrahim Al- AaliShaykh, a former Grand Muftee of Saudi Arabia and likewise I have heard the same being recited by Ash-Shaykh Yahya al-Hajooree, may Allah preserve him.
This aforementioned poetry is an expression showing the wickedness of removing a munkar (an evil) to that which is worse than it.
We ask Allah to grant us hikmah (wisdom), for verily wisdom is as Allah has stated in his noble book:
(وَمَن يُؤْتَ الحِكْمَةَ فَقَدْ أُوتِيَ خَيْراً كَثِيراً وَمَا يَذَّكَّرُ إلاَّ أُوْلُوا الأَلْبَابِ )
“And he, to whom Hikmah is granted, is indeed granted abundant good But none remember (will receive admonition) except men of understanding.” Verse 2:269
