In general, a women can correct the Imam

Shaikh Bin Baz rahimahullah was asked:

Question:

If the Imam makes a mistake in the recitation and none of the men respond, is it allowed for one of the women to reply?

Answer:

Yes, she notifies him. If the men correct him, then all Praise is due to Allah. Otherwise, she corrects him and her voice is not awrah. Verily the awrah is softness in speech. This is prohibited as Allah, the Exalted said:

يا نساء النبي لستن كأحد من النساء إن اتقيتن فلا تخضعن بالقول فيطمع الذي في قلبه مرض

O wives of the Prophet! You are not like any other women. If you keep your duty (to Allah), then be not soft in speech, lest he in whose heart is a disease (of hypocrisy, or evil desire for adultery, etc.) should be moved with desire,

[33:32]

So (الخضوع) is softness in speech. So it moves the desire in the heart of the one who has a disease. As for a regular voice, then there is no harm…” End. [Reference]

Shaikh Abdul-Muhsin al-‘Abbad hafidhuhallah said about a wife correcting a husband:

“If she [the wife] corrects him [the husband] then there is no harm because clapping is for a mistake other than in recitation. That is, it is a substitute for glorifying Allah. As for recitation, then there is correction”
