Shaykh Al Uthaymeen rahimahullah said,

“It should be known that there is a beneficial principle, and it is that the origin of everything which Allah has created in the earth is Halal (permissible), the origin in it is permissibility, except that which the proofs have been established upon its prohibition. The proof for that is the statement of Allah Tabaaraka Wa Ta’ala

هُوَ الَّذِي خَلَقَ لَكُم مَّا فِي الْأَرْضِ جَمِيعًا

He it is Who created for you all that is on earth [al-Baqarah 2:29]

[As for] everything that is on the earth, then it is for us, from the animals, trees, stones, everything. Everything which is on the earth is permissible, Allah has permitted it for us except that which the proofs have been established upon its prohibition.

In accordance to this great principle which Allah has clarified for us in His book, whoever claims that this (such and such thing) is prohibited, then upon him is proof.” End translation. [Explanation Riyadus Saliheen 4 /260]
