Question:
In my country, the Imams give a Khutbah (sermon) before the second Adhan in our language so that the people can understand. Then after the second Adhan, they give a summarized sermon in Arabic. So what is the ruling on that?
Answer:
It is not correct to give two sermons or multiple sermons: one sermon in a foreign language and another in Arabic. Verily the sermon should be in Arabic and in the language [your people understand]. So he combines between this and that. That is, he combines between mentioning something in Arabic and then mentioning it in a foreign language. It should not be that there are multiple sermons, that is, above what is legislated, which is two sermons. [It should not be] such that there is a sermon in Arabic and a sermon in a foreign language.
