The orgin is that ghayrah is used by a husband for his wife. However, it can also be used for when the boundaries and the sanctuaries of Allah are transgressed.
The Hadeeth:
عن أبي هريرة، رضي الله عنه ، عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، قال: “ إن الله تعالى يغار، وغيرة الله ، تعالى، أن يأتي المرء ما حرم الله عليه” ((متفق عليه)) .
Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:
The Prophet (ﷺ) said, ‘Verily, ‘Allah, the Exalted, has Ghayrah , and His Ghayrah is provoked when a person does what Allah has made unlawful for him”.
[Al-Bukhari and Muslim].
